Abstrakt:
Calcium-mediated calcium release, via ion channels called ryanodine receptors (RyRs), is critical for cardiac cell excitation. RyRs have several conformational states, including open, closed and inactivated; transitions between these depend on nearby ion concentrations. Recently, Zahradníková and other colleagues at SAV presented a structurally-informed thermodynamic model for this system (Zahradníková et al., 2025, PLOS Comp Bio). In collaboration with them, we are developing a continuous-time Markov chain model to study the kinetic behaviour of RyRs.

This presentation will introduce ongoing work with Anna Hlubinová and Pavol Bokes.
