Názov: Gasistor: A Gas Sensor That Remembers

Termín: 5.11.2026, 14:00 hod., F1/108

Abstrakt:
Hydrogen is a promising energy carrier widely used in energy storage, chemical synthesis, and numerous other industrial applications. However, its high flammability makes rapid and reliable hydrogen detection essential for safe operation. Conventional chemiresistive H₂ gas sensors, typically based on planar interdigitated electrode geometries, face limitations in sensitivity, selectivity, and compatibility with semiconductor electronics and intelligent sensing systems [1]. In contrast, nanoscale capacitor-like Pt–TiO2–Pt sandwich structures exhibit exceptionally high response to hydrogen even at room temperature [2], while also demonstrating excellent selectivity toward H2 [3]. Remarkably, these devices are also capable of resistive switching. Based on the latter, hybrid devices combining gas sensing and memristive memory, known as gasistors, have recently been proposed and investigated [4,5]. A gasistor integrates a metal-oxide semiconductor gas sensor with a resistive-switching element (memristor) in a single crossbar Pt/TiO2/Pt structure. Such device enables simultaneous hydrogen detection and non-volatile storage of the sensing event in the device's resistive state, effectively functioning as gas sensors with intrinsic memristive memory. In this talk, I will introduce the gasistor concept, review its operating principles, and discuss the key challenges and opportunities associated with this emerging technology.
